Summer 2013

All right. Since this was kind of my idea in the first place I figure I'll start us out.

Here's what I've been up to this summer (in absolutely no particular order):
- Finished Chem 222 in mid June
- Had eggs Benedict for the first time
- Hiked Spencer's Butte a thousand times
- Biked 30 miles round trip to Harrisburg from Eugene

Top- Spencer's Butte, Bottom Left- Proof that I was in Harrisburg, Bottom Right- Top of a very giant hill I biked where I almost died.
- Had stick shift lessons
- Got my first flat on the road whilst trying to bike the McKenzie View Drive bike path (felt like a road warrior for doing so and named my bike [Byrdie, if you're wondering] in the process)
- Went shooting, again.
McKenzie View Drive
Top Left- stick shift lessons, Top Right- Byrdie's first flat, Bottom left- park with the Westmoreland's, Middle- shooting like a rock star, Bottom Right- that time when Jack spilled all the laundry soap on the floor.
- Shot a bow and arrow for the first time a la Katniss Everdeen
- Finished President Monson's biography
- Learned to long-board better, or just not fall and scrape my toes.
- Successfully pulled off a Relief Society campout/sleepover without too much stress
- Made ice cream in a bag
- Watched more Sabrina the Teenage Witch than I care to admit
- Reread the Penderwick Series
- Ate s'mores
- After much deliberation, stress and contacting I found a place to live for Fall term in Corvallis (well in Philomath actually)
Top Left- Katelyn's bridal shower, middle- shooting off the piddly fireworks at the Westmoreland's, Top Right- surprising Amy, Bottom- watching the 4th of July Fireworks in Springfield, Middle- Mom visiting and a visit to Hendricks Park, Bottom right- Santa Clara Stake's 5k
- Continued working at the temple and am thisclose to being completely trained
- Have almost my full Fall schedule booked (I just need to pass Chem 223 before I can register for O. Chem. Cross your fingers that they have room for me in the class)
- Went to the local Scandinavian festival with a bunch of my friends and felt like I was in an episode of Gilmore Girls.
- Fed the Sister Missionaries tacos
- Took roommate pictures
- Am almost done with working at KRS. 1 more week.
- Watched Indiana Jones 1-3 with my roommate
Scandi Fest 2013
Summer has been interesting. Without school to occupy my entire life I've felt a little lost as to how to spend my free time. I tried to bike all around Eugene but lost interest after my 30 mile bike ride to Harrisburg that nearly zapped all the fun out of biking. After that it's been a lot of Sabrina the Teenage Witch marathons, spending time at Amy's, reading whatever strikes my fancy, and hoping that summer (and my job) will end and that I can just start the rest of my life. A few days ago I realized I needed an attitude change so I'm really trying to enjoy the last of summer that I have available. I still have a few tricks up my sleeve for the last little while so it should be pretty fantastic. Also hiking, biking, walking and running are the main stars of my life these days. I'm not complaining.

Finding a place to live has been my main occupation this summer (which was probably why I had the bad attitude and listlessness). After so much contacting I'm pretty sure every member of the church in Corvallis has blocked my phone number or email address. Whoops. I guess I've been pretty persistent. The funny thing is that the place I ended up deciding on was the first place I saw posted on the outdated bulletin board in the local YSA ward. I didn't feel like I should settle on a place 15 minutes outside of Corvallis so I figured I'd see what else was out there. After all the contacting and lots of almosts I decided Philomath really was the best place for me. So come the end of September I'll be living in a cute little town on the outskirts of Corvallis. I couldn't be more excited.

In weather news, you'd think it was fall around here. The temperatures have been steadily in the 80's (max) the last few days, we've had quite a few small showers here and there and it's been touch and go cloudy. I'm not sure where summer went but I feel like it should make a come back so I can actually be ready for fall when it comes. I know I shouldn't complain but c'mon Mother Nature. Get your act together. It's August, not October.
